From: longscootdown@findavoice.org.uk

Greetings fellow scooterists

WE NEED YOUR HELP AND SUPPORT DESPERATELY

My name is Becky and I am the lead organiser for the charity event “The Long Scoot Down ” Many of you may well have heard of the event which is to take place in June 2011 and is in aid of a charity called Find a Voice. Websites for both will be attached to the end of this email for you to have a nosy at!!

I am emailing everyone from the list of UK clubs using the info from Scootering Magazine, in the hope I can encourage you and your club members to get involved somehow.

The ride route can be found on the website, and I’d like to take this opportunity to encourage as many of you as I can to join us at some point along the route. We would be honoured to receive your support and to meet as many fellow scooties as we can, or would like to encourage your clubs to organise ride outs in our honour, and to help us raise some money for the charity we are riding for.

We will be holding our own small, off shoot rideouts before the main event, one which is called Tour d’Kent and is a 180 mile “warm up”. Every rider has been asked to give a small donation to ride. The info for this can be found on our Facebook page LONGSCOOT DOWN email address please add us as a friend if you haven’t already.
scooterrun@yahoo.co.uk

We are keen to make the Long Scoot Down a national event, involving as many scooterists as is humanly possible. Damian Green MP, the Immigration Minister is involved in the ride and will be contacting names such as Paul Weller for us in the very near future. We also have the actress Jan Francis involved, she will be encouraging names such as Phil Daniels to show us some support also.

So, do you think you’d like to get involved somehow?

Show us some support along the route, hold your own ride outs in aid of us, maybe a night of scooter sounds or a collection pot in your local pub etc!! If you think you might like to get involved please don’t hesitate to contact me either by email or by telephone, 01233 640443 office hours or on my mobile 07710999421.

We will add your club to our supporters area of the website. We already have the support of many local clubs, some are holding nights of scooter sounds, some will be meeting us on the last leg of our ride etc., and to these I say a warm heartfelt thank you!! A big thank you also to the guys in Stirling, Scotland, for offering us places to camp and a few drinkies before the ride and to the guys at Weston-super-Mare for the offer of camping at the rugby ground along with copious amounts of beer!!

Help us to show the whole UK what we scooter enthusiasts can do!!

please print attatched flyer to help promote our event. thank you.

I look forward to hearing from you and thank you for your time in reading my email.

All the best, ride safe and hope to see you on the route!

Becky (South Kent saints SC)

Chris Turner just heard about your dad please accept my condolences. I knew your dad for many tears having lived on Egerton Rd as a kid up to my early 20's sadly I moved away and lost touch with all the guys around there many years ago eg Rob. Mick Bolton, John Lodge etc. But being such a sound guy I am sure Rob will be sadly missed by all his mates and everyone that knew him.

Hi all, some of you may remember me, I used to do the club meeting years ago, I was knocked off my scoot in 2000, and ended haveing my leg chopped off, well anyway sorry for boreing you all, the reason Iam getting in touch is to see if any of you lads and lassies will please help me out ???? My daughter is haveing her prom night on the 21st of this month, and she has asked me if I would take her on my scoot, as I now have a comby, but to be honest I have only done about 40 miles on it, Iam trying to get together an escort for her, so that she turnes up in style, and I wondered if any of you could help ????? Like Ive said it is Friday the 21st of this month, and it would be from our house in Cleveleys up to the Hilton in Blackpool, Ive spoke to Martin and he said to put out a shout on here aswell...... Ive been in touch with John in Preston, also Growler in Southport to ask for there help aswell, as like any dad I would love to help my daughters night be special, so if any of you can help it would mean a hell of alot to me ?????????????? thanks for takeing the time to read this, and hopefully see you there ??? Martin Dean and Martin in Lancaster have both got my numbers, so hopefully hear from some of you soon,,,,,TA

Welcome back to the scene Andy. I'm sure you'll recognise some of the faces in the club. You don't need to wait for your bike to be on the road, just turn up on a Tuesday night and introduce yourself. You'll probably find it handy for hints and tips plus if you need any parts getting your GP on the road.

Hi, just found youe website, great to see the scooter scene is still alive and well in Blackpool.
I rode with the Vagabonds in the late 70s and went to school with Mick Bolton who I havent seen in years. Sold my scooter in early 80s when I got married and had kids.
Just bought a GP 200 and its like I am 17 again, should have it on the road in a few weeks and hope to come to one of your meets.

Les, keep an eye on our events and gallery page for updates to our Flickr account. I've scanned over 400 photos, a lot of them Bibby's, just waiting for our chairman to sort out how to post them chronologically by rally. There's a fair few already up and there's quite a few with the Modernisers as a group so you may spot yourself on them. Like you still a Moderniser at heart and always will be, I'll keep an eye out on the rallies for you as I still wear all my club patches as do some of the other lads.
Mr Les

Cheers Eddie - much appreciated, moved from Blackpool and lived all over, now Portishead (Bristol), ride with the Jolly Boys SC (www.jbsc.co.uk) but still a Moderniser at heart (including all my patches !) - really would like to catch up with Bibs and some of the old crew - all help appreciated from anyone(facebook Scooter Les) Cheers
Eddie
Posted on 7:37pm Wednesday 2nd Sep 2009
Hi Les, Bibby's still in the club although not well at the moment and we haven't seen him for a couple of months, Mick Bolton's got another scoot (custom sprayed GP) and currently living out of town. Gaz Beckett and Pete Haslem are in the club and post on the site so they may have more info. Rob Turner is occasionally seen out and about, hasn't changed but hasn't succumbed to getting another scooter (yet). Colin, one of the younger Modernisers from the early eighties is still riding currently with Pogue Mahones. When I see any of them if they haven't answered I'll get them to contact you.
Eddie, Modernisers SC 86 - 91
BTW some good videos on your site

Hello B/pool Scooter Boy's / Mods,

I was searching for an SX 200 restored or restoration project when I came accross the Blackpool Lambretta Club Site (I'm from B/pool but writing this blog from Moscow) and noticed Paul Livesey's name whom if it's the same Paul that I new used work with me in Cleveley's at Dorest Gate for J. Fisher & Co, Toolmakers (sweat shop)and a period in my life I prefer to forget. Aanyway I now feel quiet depressed seeing all of those beautiful scooters especially having sold my SX 200 some 30 years ago to an OK Club Member and paint sprayer called Martin Pace and which I still dream about, although mine had been totally chromed (I have a picture back in Blackpool and will send) but currently working in away and freezing to death. A great site, inspirational and fantastic to see the photos of you guy's & girls enjoying yoursleves - Martin Turner
